Ongoing schools Programme

We are pleased to announce that we intend to continue with our schools programme and are currently seeking to identify suitable school sites where we can deliver similar aid to that already completed at the Sumana School at Kulleegoda (see What we've done). We have already identified two more schools in desperate need of similar aid, the rural schools at Pathiraja and Beruthduwa both providing co-educational learning for over 500 children. With your help we can provide similar aid to these schools in 2008.

The Dental Surgery at Sumana Vidalaya School at Kulleegoda

As part of the refurbishment programme of the Sumana school (see What we've done) we have completely refurbished the dental surgery. The surgery actually serves all the schools in the Madampa area which numbers in excess of 8000 children between the ages of 5 and 18. Having now repaired the fabric of the building, rewired the surgery and redecorated the unit, we have provided new modern equipment including a dentists’ reclining chair, specialist pneumatic drill, modern surgical instruments and consumables. An orphanage for special needs children at Telewatta

We are still hoping to assist the charity Manacare by completing their building project at Telewatta. The village is already substantially completed but we will assist with completion of the upper floor which will be used as an orphanage for severely traumatised street children from Colombo.
